Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes, if any, on postural control ability and visual perception ability of children with cerebral palsy who had participated in horseback riding. Twenty children with cerebral palsy were measured for their postural control ability and visual perception ability during an 8-week period of horseback riding. These measurements were then analyzed statistically. The results showed that there was a statistically significant change in the posture control ability of children participating in the horseback riding (p<0.05). However, there was no corresponding statistical change in their visual perception ability. Therefore, horseback riding for children with cerebral palsy may be helpful for improving posture control ability but not visual perception ability. With more future research, we hope that horseback riding will help to establish itself as a form of treatment for children with cerebral palsy.
